This Mens Cork Wallet is the perfect fit for those looking for a highly functional bifold with a minimalist design. Handmade here in my small U.S. workshop from top-tier, dual layered cork that is very tough. They are riveted together using solid brass, nickel plated rivets - providing a durable bind that will stand the test of time. The texture of this cork is something to behold. CURRENCY:
The non-snap version of this wallet will fit U.S. Dollars, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, and some of the smaller (in height) Euro and British bills that are similar in size to the US Dollar notes.
The Snap version of this wallet is slightly taller and will fit Euro bills up to the 50 Euro note, and British bills up to the 20 Pound note.
SIZE:
The non-snap version of this wallet measures approximately 3.125 x 4.25 inches when folded and is about 5/16 inch (10mm) at its thickest point.
The snap version of this wallet measures approximately 3.25 x 4.5 inches when folded and is about 5/16 inch (10mm) at its thickest cork only point. The snaps are slightly thicker, but once the wallet is loaded with cards and cash – the snap area equals or is thinner than the loaded wallet.
The Mens Cork Wallet will easily fit 6 – 8 cards initially (up to 12 or so once broken in), receipts notes and bills. You must allow the wallet a bit of time to be broken in so that it may stretch to fit your needs. Once fully broken in (about 2-4 weeks or so) you can add even more cards. This wallet is built entirely from one continuous cut of cork fabric folded onto itself and the interior divider will initially be the same length as the outer piece. The exterior leather will eventually break in and lengthen slightly more than the divider as is typical in traditionally cut wallets.
CLOSURE OPTIONS:
This wallet now comes with the option to add Button Snaps to help keep your cards and cash secure, when the wallet closed. It’s perfect for those needing that extra bit of security and works great if you tend to toss your wallet on a shelf, in your day bag, or on your desk. If you opt for the Button Snaps, we will install them on the edges of the wallet as shown in the photos. The buttons are solid brass and nickel plated, they increase the height and length of the wallet marginally to accommodate placement.
CHAIN OPTIONS:
Currently we are not offering chains on this style of wallet.
Cork is a very unique material. It is very durable, flexible, soft and pleasing to the eye. It’s the closest material I have come across that mimics many aspects of leather, however it is not leather and a few differences are worth noting to my fellow customers.
Cork is harvested from the exterior of cork trees in very small, thin sheets by hand, once every 10 years. The tree itself is not cut down, it goes on living an average of 250 years. This cork is then carefully layered onto a non-woven, coated, polyester fabric for enhanced durability. The higher end cork fabric, such as that used in my shop has wider sheets about the width of a hand placed onto the fabric in a simple puzzle pattern. Due to this technique, all items in the shop will have sections where two, three, or more sheets come together at seams.
Cork is a natural product and has many natural visible features such as holes, cracks, markings and alternately changing color tones. Natural holes in the cork are filled in with the resin backing that secures the cork to the fabric. Cork is flexible, however it tends to display micro-cracks along any edge that is folded tightly. The items made in our shop will display this feature and it is not considered a defect, rather it is part of the effect of working the cork into a desired shape.
Due to the unique properties of cork, products made with this material will not come with the unique number stamping as seen on the leather goods. Also we are unable to personalize cork products with names or initials.
All cork products sold in my shop come with a 1 year warranty for defects in material and craftsmanship occurring under normal use circumstances. All defects typically present themselves during the first week of use. We do not cover wear and tear, washing, or any improper use or strain on the item.
