How to Make a Pattern for a Holster

Please enjoy the video lesson above. It is intended to be used to make a pattern that should fit almost any make and model of handgun. The measurements will be relative to your own gun and you are free to modify the shape in order to suit your own needs.

Please note that getting a pattern to fit perfectly may take a few iterations. Usually the culprit is the stitch line and how tight you make it. That said, these instructions should get you fairly close, if not a good fit from the start. Tools + Materials Needed

Posterboard paper or manila folders
1/2″ wide x 12″ long strip of leather you plan to use for the holster (7-8 oz vegetable tanned is preferred)
Pencil and eraser
Pricking Awl
5/16″ Leather Punch
Protractor
Ruler
U.S. Quarter or other similar small round item
Utility knife
Scissors
Rotary cutter
